I'm an amateur photographer. That means I do it for fun, not as my job. Sometimes I get good results.
I like to take pictures of people who like to have their picture taken. Also scenery, plants, and wildlife who I can't ask if they like to have their picture taken.
I use off-camera lights whenever possible. Sometimes one of those lights is the sun or moon. Often the lights are portable flashes (Godox AD200 and AD360, and sometimes plug-in monoblocks if you must know). Almost always the lights are modified, reflected, softened, or directed on purpose, or modified by moving myself in relation to the lights or subject.
When I want to move fast and light, or just want easy results I shoot with a Pentax dSLR with an APS-C size sensor, often with lenses that are quite physically short for their focal length - called pancake lenses. These lenses are pretty good at preventing flare from light sources in or near the frame (like those flashes), and give pretty even sharpness across the whole frame.
When I want unusual degrees of detail or tonality I shoot with a medium format camera on film.
When I want to place the plane of focus such that it is not perpendicular to the view direction I shoot on sheet film with a 4x5 monorail camera. It is quite cumbersome so I don't do this as much as I would like.
